Marcin Wyrwał. Why is Poland not in Washington? Three key reasons
There are three key reasons.
The first is the immanent feature of the Polish national character, and thus Polish politics. In breakthrough moments we are able to get off the superhuman energy. The problem is that they are usually as intense as short -lived. One would like to paraphrase the words of Prime Minister Leszek Miller – I get to know a real player not after he starts, but after he ends up.

And after Russia's full -glass invasion of Ukraine, we started great. At the social level, we organized at the borders to help Ukrainian refugees massively. At the state level, we sent almost 400 tanks to Ukraine, not to mention other types of weapons. President Andrzej Duda was the leader of international initiatives for supporting Kiev in the fight against Moscow aggressor and the accession of Ukraine to the European Union and NATO.

Not for the first time and not the last ad hoc polls prevailed over the state interest.
The year 2025 came and it turned out that the main friend and ally of Ukraine – and what is not without significance, the United States – there are again Germany. The same Germans, who were ready to send helmets and first aid kits, and until the last moment to send heavy equipment to Kiev, the same Germans. When Poland had nothing to offer, great European players returned to their main playmakers on the continent. We also returned to our place – European second speed.
Yes, President Nawrocki can be patted by Trump on the back as the one whose American president prefers from the head of the liberal government. But, as we have just convinced, this does not translate into the position of our country in any way among the so -called large players. Remote arrangements with European leaders in Alaska preceding the Trump-Putin meeting in Alaska. However, the direct meeting in Washington was only covered by the largest – Germany, France, Great Britain and Italy.
Why then in Washington, the president relatively less significant Finland? Here we come to the third reason for our absence in Washington – the dramatic weakness of the Polish political and diplomatic class.

Polish interests in the USA are represented by the charger d'affaires, unimportant by the president. Our current position overseas is well reflected in the story of President Duda, who in February this year in the vestibule of the CPAC conference for nearly an hour was waiting for President Trump to take a photo with him.
