Trump made a statement after his longest negotiations with Putin

Trump called a meeting with Putin productive.

“We agreed on most of the topics,” Trump said. “There is no agreement until it is concluded. I will call NATO. I will call different people, [тем] To whom I consider it necessary, and, of course, I will call the President Zelensky and tell him about today's meeting. The final decision is behind them. “

He added that during the negotiations it was possible to achieve “significant progress”, said that he always had “fantastic” relations with Putin and that he had “complex meetings” with him.

“In short, I’m going to make a few phone calls and tell them what happened, but we held an extremely productive meeting and agreed on many issues. There are only a few of them. Some of them are not so important. One, perhaps the most important,” Trump added, not specifying what exactly means.

His statement for the media lasted less than five minutes (Putin was more verbose). There were no answers to the questions of journalists. Trump and Putin shook hands and retired.

After that, the Kremlin announced the completion of the negotiations of the Russian Federation and the USA in Anchorage. Thus, the meeting ended earlier than planned in Moscow: Putin’s spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated that negotiations in several different formats might need “six to seven hours” and according to this plan the summit was supposed to continue until 4.00 August 16 in Kyiv.

Context

On August 15, the seventh meeting was held in Alaska Trump and Putin. The US President was the first to fly to the Elmendorf air base, Putin's plane sat there a few minutes before the Summit began. The media, having analyzed the language of the bodies of Putin and Trump, noted that they met as old friends. Negotiations began at 22.00 in Kyiv and lasted about three hours. Bloomberg drew attention to the fact that this is their longest meeting.

The US President said before the negotiations that he wanted to achieve a ceasefire in the Russian-Ukrainian war and “will not be satisfied if this does not happen” during the summit.
