On Friday, US President Donald Trump met with Russian leader Vladimir Putin. Politicians described their conversations as “constructive”, but did not provide specific arrangements. Trump pointed out that they agreed in many matters, but several important issues remained unsolved. Before the summit, the US President announced that his goal was to achieve a suspension of weapons and threatened Russia with severe consequences if it did not happen.

– The meeting was completely sterile and completely unnecessary. If you assess this meeting through the prism of Trump's previous announcements, this is Trump's total failure. Undoubtedly, because nothing of what he talked about, what he said, what he announced, nothing was accepted, established – told PAP prof. Roman Kuźniar, political scientist and lecturer at the Faculty of Political Sciences and International Studies of the University of Warsaw.

He emphasized that no specific effects were achieved: neither the stopping of the fire or the three -sided peak, nor was Trump's trip to Moscow was confirmed. – The meeting ended with nothing – noted prof. Kuźniar.

In his opinion, Trump failed, and the winner is Putin. – He won this meeting, although he did not get anything, fortunately, no concessions from Trump – the expert emphasized.

Gen. Polko: Trump has shown that you can have all the advantage cards in your hand and lose

US President Donald Trump showed that you can have all the advantage cards in his hand, and to lose because nothing was set. It's like in poker, where the strategy decides – told BAP former GROM commander General Roman Polko, commenting on the Trump – Putin summit.

He explained that The victory of the Russian leader consisted in the fact that he “in Trump, away”, presented his arguments and defended them, and also returned to the game as a partner to talk. – Instead of sitting in prison in the Hague, he is undertaken by the leader of the most powerful power, which the leader is clearly with him – added prof. Kuźniar.

He pointed out that this was visible when both of them presented their statements after the meeting. – It was obvious that Putin was very confident, even puddle, relaxed, optimistic, he spoke a lot, while Trump just like such a typical pythia who has nothing to say, he played three by three, he had nothing specific to say – the expert assessed.

He compared Trump to a student who must say something before class, but he is ashamed and “pleat” because there is no prepared answer. “It was quite embarrassing, taking into account Trump's earlier performances, a confident” self -discretion “,” noted the political scientist.

– Coming to such a meeting on your own territory, announcing various things and not achieving anything from it, of course this is a clear defeat of Trump – noted the political scientist.

He added that the US President did not confirm the promises of imposing sanctions on Russia and to draw severe consequences for it. At the same time, he assessed that the meeting did not end in the defeat of the United States in the sense that they did not give up anything Russia. – It ended in the defeat of President Trump himself and Putin's victory, but this is an image victory – he added.

Asked if the lack of measurable effects was a surprise, he pointed out that before, before the meeting, he predicted that it would be a spectacular failure. – The meeting ended so – a spectacular failure from the point of view of previously assumed goals – in relation to the war, to Russia's aggression to Ukraine. However, maybe there are some arrangements related to Russian-American and American-Russian relations, because it was also the subject of talks-noted the professor.

He emphasized that “it was not a complete blame or Trump's compromise, as in Helsinki,” but Trump was very poor. “It was a sad spectacle, but fortunately without a disaster for Ukraine, without a disaster for Europe,” said the political scientist. As he explained, “you will not need anything to unscrew.”

At the same time, he noticed that it is a pity that Trump had not forced his guest – Putin, “at least some declaration when it comes to a truce.” – Because this is the most important thing – weapon suspension, interruption of fire. None of these things have been established – the professor concluded.
