Donald Trump told Volodimir Zelenski and the NATO leaders he spoke on the return road that Vladimir Putin does not want an armistice and that the best variant is a completely obtained peace agreement, according to the sources of the American press.

President Trump told Zelenski and NATO leaders that Putin does not want an armistice and prefers a comprehensive agreement to put an end to the war, said the Axios Global Business Correspondent, Barak Ravid.

According to a source present during the phone call, Trump said: “I think a fast peace agreement is better than an armistice,” wrote X Barak Ravid, who had previously written on the social network that Zelenski will go to Washington, publishing the information before she was made public by the Ukrainian president.

Trump had previously stated, shortly after meeting Putin, in a Fox News interview, that Zelenski and Putin should set up a meeting to try to reach an armistice.

“Now, President Zelenski is really up to do this. And I would say that European countries have to get a little involved. But it is up to President Zelenski. And if they want, I will be present at the next meeting,” Trump told Sean Hannity, after meeting Putin in Alaska.

Volodimir Zelenski announced on Saturday morning that he spoke an hour on the phone with Donald Trump after he finished the summit with Vladimir Putin in Alaska and that the European leaders were joined at another hour.

Zelenski said he would go to Washington on Monday to discuss with Trump “all the details on the cessation of killings and war.”

“We support President Trump's proposal for a trilateral meeting between Ukraine, USA and Russia. Ukraine emphasizes that key problems can be discussed at leaders, and a trilateral format is suitable for this,” the leader from Kiev said.

Previously, the White House had announced that Donald Trump spoke “long” on the phone with the Ukrainian leader Volodimir Zelenski at the end of the meeting with Vladimir Putin in Alaska. Later, Trump also called NATO leaders.

Trump called Zelenski during the flight back to Washington DC, said the White House press secretary, Karoline Leavitt, in a press statement.

The president spent much of the six -hour flight on the phone. After the telephone conversation with Zelenski, Trump spoke to NATO leaders, said Karoline Leavitt, without revealing the subject of the discussions.
