The Minister of Health has found money and announces the modernization of outpatients. 120 million euros for extensions, upgrades and features

The Minister of Health, Alexandru Rogobete, announces the development of specialized outpatients to facilitate the rapid access of patients to diagnosis and treatment, without unnecessary hospitalizations. Through a project of 120 million euros from European funds, they will be modernized, extended.

According to the minister, Romania now invests 120 million euros from European funds in the development of specialized ambulatory, through the Operational Health Program.
“We do not wait for another 35 years – we now develop specialized outpatients for patients to have quick access to diagnosis and treatment, without unnecessary hospitalizations
120 million euros from European funds for specialized outpatients, through the Operational Health Program in Romania, too many patients felt the burden of long roads, unnecessary hospitalizations and tiring expectations for a simple consultation. We change this reality. We develop specialized outpatients and invest massively for patients to reach diagnosis and treatment faster, close to home and without unnecessary hospitalizations ” wrote the minister on Saturday on Facebook.
Legislative reforms in progress aim to bring concrete benefits to patients:
- Program extended until 20:00 in public hospitals;
- More flexibility for managers and department heads in organizing medical activity;
- The increase of the financing from 5 lei/point to 6.5 lei, following which from 2026 it will reach 8 lei;
- Elimination of the referral ticket for chronic patients from national programs, regardless of the insurance status.
So far, only 69 outpatients have been modernized in the country
On the investment side, 69 outpatients with a budget of over 1 billion lei have already been modernized. The new European project will allow for extensions, modernization, new constructions and equipment with modern equipment throughout the country. The projects can be submitted until October 16, 2025, at 5:00 pm, on the MySMIS2021 platform, announces the Ministry of Health.
“Patients are not alone – I and the team from the Ministry of Health are with them. I know that some measures disturb in the system – but they bring a real gain for patients. And for me this is the only objective: a system that responds to the needs of people, not bureaucratic habits.” He concluded the minister Alexandru Rogobete Postrea.
