The European Union hits the plan of Israel. “Violates international law”

The decision of the Israeli authorities on further settlement “even more undermines a solution based on the existence of two countries and at the same time violates international law” – Kallas wrote in a statement. She added that the announcement in this matter “fuels the already tense situation and limits all the possibilities of achieving peace.”
“The EU calls Israel to refrain from implementing this decision and draws attention to its far -reaching consequences,” Kallas wrote. She also appealed to find ways that will ensure the implementation of a solution based on the concept of two countries.
Israel's controversial plan
On the night of Wednesday to Thursday, the Minister of Finance Israel Becalel Smotricz announced the construction of a Jewish estate separating Eastern Jerusalem from the western shore of Jordan. He expressed the opinion that this would lead to “bury the idea of Palestine.”
According to the Smotricza declaration, the government intends to announce a tender for the construction of 3401 apartments in the area described as E1. It is a symbol of the estate in the northeast of Jerusalem. Its creation would create a continuous block of Jewish buildings from the central part of the occupied west shore of Jordan to the city itself.
The announcement of Smotricz caused protests of the authorities of many countries, including Great Britain, Germany and Turkey. In the past, the E1 project was also criticized by, among others USA. It was emphasized that the implementation of the E1 would mean not only the separation of Eastern Jerusalem from the west shore of Jordan, but also will lead to the division of this part of the Palestinian autonomy to the north and southwest of the west shore. The E1 project has been frozen over the past few years.
