Even the Republicans began to lose their confidence. What does the data show a few hours before the Trump-Putin meeting in Alaska, in America

According to a poll published on Thursday, most Americans do not trust President Donald Trump's ability to make decisions about the war between Russia and Ukraine, writes the Political Publication. The survey appears a few hours before his meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska.
Nearly 60% of the respondents said in a poll conduct by Pew Research Center that they are not “too confident” or “at all confident” that Trump can make “wise decisions” on the Ukraine war.
Democrats expressed a significantly lower confidence in the President's ability to make decisions than the Republicans, according to the survey conducted in early August. But Trump also lost confidence, 73% of them declaring that they have some or very great confidence in Trump's ability to manage the war, compared to 81% in July 2024.
The White House tried to temper the expectations before the Friday summit in Alaska, the spokesman Karoline Leavitt referring to the meeting as a “listening exercise”. However, Trump said that Putin is expected to take the meeting seriously, threatening with “very serious consequences” for Moscow if the Russian leader does not agree to take measures to end the war.
