According to the gardener, as a rule, beets begin to dig from the end of September to mid -October. But the exact dates of harvesting depend on variety and weather.
“The main thing is to have time before the first frosts,” the blogger noted. “If the lower leaves began to turn yellow, pale and wither, this is the first signal that beets can be collected.”
Another sign that the beets have matured is the size of the root crops. They should reach about 10 cm in diameter.
“It is better to collect beets in dry sunny weather and not damage the peel during harvesting,” the gardener explained.
Also, you can’t wash your beets before sending it to the cellar for storage.
