Huge surprises in the Romanian Cup »CSO Băicoi brought an important team from Liga 2 + Poli Timișoara, Big Victory

On Wednesday, 18 games in the 3 round of the Betano Romanian Cup were played, the penultimate phase before groups. There were 3 big surprises, 3 teams from Liga 3 eliminating bands from Liga 2.

Băicoi – Chindia 3-2 (after extensions), Poli Timișoara – Reșița 1-0 and Unirea Alba Iulia – Șelimbăr 2-0 were the big surprises of the day in the Romanian Cup.

After eliminating FCU Craiova in the last round, Vulturii Fărcănești made another victim and removed Râmnicu Vâlcea, score 3-2.

Another interesting duel, a local derby specific to Romanian football, took place between Muscel Câmpulung and Câmpulung Muscel, the score being 0-2. Liga 2 team goes to the cup-off.

Băicoi eliminated Chindia

But Chindia was the biggest surprise. Ilie Poenaru's team was removed by the Prahovan team from Băicoi, from Liga 3.

Braila opened the score in the 15th minute for Băicoi, but Alexandru Stan equalized 9 minutes after the break. Braila succeeded “double” in the 87th minute and a huge surprise was foreshadowed. Only Stan also succeeded “double”, at the last phase of regular time. And the game went in extensions.

There, Băicoi scored. Ţânțaru scored in the 102nd minute and the Prahovean team arrived in the play-off, the last round before the group phase.

Poli Timișoara passed the Reșița

Dan Alexa's team also produced a surprise. He eliminated CSM Reșița, a team that started the Liga 2 season with two wins in the first two matches.

David Popa scored the Victoria's goal, with a superb remote lobe, for Poli Timișoara, who will play in the cup-off.

On Tuesday night, Dumbrăvița eliminated Viitorul Arad, 3-1 after the extensions, and FC Bihor passed the Viitorul Cluj, 2-0, after the extensions. Thursday will be held FC Bacău – Ceahlăul.
