Roxana and Bogdan Roman have been living in Italy for over 20 years. She works at Ceggia, and he under construction. The two parents have two children: Iannis, six years old, passionate about football, and Arian, born ten months ago. At the beginning of August, they went on vacation with friends at the Royal Seginus hotel in Antalya, a top tourist destination.
The first days went smoothly, but on Tuesday morning, their life has changed radically. “It was 5 o'clock when I heard him crying. He had a slight belly pain, but he passed quick The mother tells, according to the Diaspora news.
Minutes of waiting and late intervention
Roxana ran to the reception asking for medical help. The hotel doctor arrived only after a few minutes, and the ambulance came later. Tourists from Ukraine and Germany tried to resuscitate him until the emergency crew arrived. Arian was transported to the hospital, where, after about 40 minutes, the mother learned that her son could no longer be saved.
After paying costs of about 5,000 euros to the hospital and the local funeral agency and the legal formalities, the parents were hit by a new problem: the repatriation procedure. The Italian consulate in Smirna does not accept the documents transmitted electronically, requesting that the originals be sent by mail. “In 2025, I cannot understand this bureaucracy. If the documents do not arrive in time, the flight will be postponed and the costs will increase“Says my mother.
Support from the community
The friends of the family, as well as members of the Romanian community in Italy, have started a fundraising campaign to support Roxana and Bogdan Roman to bring their child home and cope with this tragedy.
