Nicușor Dan, after the video conference of European leaders with Trump. “Any peace agreement must be accompanied by security guarantees for Ukraine”
President Nicuşor Dan says that within the meeting of “the Coalition of Goodwill” he stressed that “for Romania the coordination and the transatlantic unit are essential” and that the European leaders agree that a truce is needed in Ukraine, before any negotiations.
President Nicușor Dan said he welcomes Donald Trump's intention to end the Ukraine.
“We have just participated in the video conference of the coalition that will act to coordinate our positions before the bilateral meeting between the US President, Donald Trump, and the President of Russia, in Alaska. I stressed that, for Romania, the coordination and the transatlantic unit are essential. I welcome today's meeting. Determination of President Trump to end this aggression and to bring a sustainable peace in Ukraine. We all agree that an armistice should be reached before wearing any negotiations. Being the neighbor with the longest land border with Ukraine, the way peace is made is extremely important for Romania, as for the whole of Europe. The future and security of our continent, Including the Black Sea region, I am at stake. Therefore, we need a peace that takes into account the interests of Ukraine and Europe. We also agree that any peace agreement should be accompanied by solid security guarantees for Ukraine ”Nicușor Dan said on Wednesday, in a post on X.
US President Donald Trump made the first statements after video conferencing with European leaders and answered yes when he was asked if there will be consequences given that Russia refuses an armistice on Friday, when the two leaders will have a summit in the Alaska dedicated to the Ukraine.
