The Russian forces advanced to the Dobropillia-Kramatorsk highway in the Donetk region, occupying positions in the nearby settlements to support further offensive operations, August 11 announced on Monday, the Deeptate online platform that mapping the front lines.

The updated map, compiled by Deeptate based on a combination of data from open sources and testimonies of the units on the ground, shows the gray area that is adjacent to the highway, which was regularly used by civil and military traffic until mid -July, notes The Kyiv Independent.

The city of Dobropillia is 94 kilometers northwest of the areas of Donets occupied by the Russian army and about 22 kilometers north of the besieged city Pokrovsk, which has become the epicenter of the battles for several months.

Taking advantage of the numerical superiority, the Russian forces advanced at least 10 kilometers in Kucheriv Yar, Zolotyi Kolodiaz and Veele, where, according to Deepsate, they consolidate their positions for a new offensive and full occupation.

Russian troops also try to set positions in Petivka and Novovodiane, on the other side of the highway.

The assault of the Russian army, an extension of its offensive between the cities of Pokrovsk and Kostiantynivka in the Donetk region, which has been ongoing since spring, has taken a dramatic advance in August, bringing the key logistics of Ukraine in the range of Russian drones of the type FPV (“First-Person View”).

Breaking the Ukrainian defense to the west by the main urban agglomerations controlled by Ukraine in the Donetk – Sloviansk, Kramatorsk Druzhkivka and Kostantynivka – these last conquests threatens to seriously compromise the general defense of the Eastern region devastated by the war.

Ukrainian troops have built new fortifications around the localities of Zolotyi Kolodiaz, Shakhove and around the nearby settlements-positions that Russian forces are currently bypassing, but they could capture and reuse for defensive purposes in future operations, the Deeptate platform said.

“After the final consolidation and accumulation, the attempts to enter deeper into the territory will be inevitable and drone crews will be brought, which will complicate the restructuring of alternative logistics and maintaining the positions around by the Ukrainian forces,” Deeptate said in his report.

“With this evolution of events, if it does not change, we can reach a situation where Dobropillia will fall faster than Pokrovsk,” the Ukrainian site for analyzing the front, close to the Kiev army anticipates.

Ukrainian officials have not publicly commented on the information on the Russian advance.

The press officers representing two Ukrainian brigades known for the battles in the area have refused to comment on the situation.

The news comes in the context in which Russia, faced with the perspective of peace negotiations, tried to advance on the front line to position itself as best as possible at the eventual meal of negotiations.

The hottest areas of the front remain in the Donetk region, where the Ukrainian brigades, all with reduced infantry, fight to keep the line of defense against Russian forces that have learned to target the weaknesses of Ukrainian defense, writes The Kyiv Independent.

The evacuation of civilians from the disputed or busy areas remains extremely dangerous, the Russian forces being repeatedly accused of targeting unimportant persons, says the quoted publication.
