Trump, new disclosures about the summit with Putin. Devastating news for Zelenski: “I will call him” / the American leader said twice: “I go to Russia”

US President Donald Trump said on Monday that he is expecting a “constructive discussion” with his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, and that he is dissatisfied with Volodimir Zelenski, the leader of Ukraine, because he has excluded territorial concessions from his country, informs AFP, CNN and Sky News.

“I will talk to Vladimir Putin and tell him that he has to put an end to this war,” Trump said in a press conference at the White House, adding that he would “like to see a very, very fast armistice.”

Trump said he would call Zelenski and other European leaders immediately after meeting Putin, scheduled for Friday in the US, US North state.

“The next meeting will be with Zelenski and Putin, or Zelenski, Putin and me. I will be there if they need it,” said the White House leader.

Trump said he was “a little disturbed” by the fact that Zelenski said he needs constitutional approval for any kind of territorial concessions.

“I mean, he has the approval to enter the war and kill everyone. But does he need approval to exchange the territories?” Trump asked. “Because there will be some exchanges of territories,” said the US president, without specifying what this territories will be.

Trump describes the summit with Putin as a “polling meeting”

“It is a war that should not have taken place,” said Trump, after being asked about his future meeting with Vladimir Putin, who will take place in Alaska on Friday.

“It is a war that would not have taken place if I had been president, it would never have happened,” the white house chief insisted.

He described the discussions with the Kremlin leader as a “polling meeting” and said that “he (Putin, no) wants to get involved.”

Trump added that he thinks Putin wants to “finish” the war.

“I said this a few times and I was disappointed because I had very good discussions with him, and then rockets were launched on Kiev or other places,” the US president said.

He also explained that he would tell Putin: “You have to put an end to this war, you have to end it.”

He added that he will call the European leaders “with whom I understand very well” after the discussions with the Russian president.

But Trump also said he would not conclude an agreement between Russia and Ukraine, adding “it doesn't depend on me.”

“I received a phone call in which I was told to meet and I will see what we want to talk about,” he said. “I would like to see an armistice, I would like to see the best understanding that can be reached for both sides, because two parts are needed to dance tango.”

Trump's answer, asked if Zelenski will attend Friday's discussions

Donald Trump was also asked if Volodimir Zelenski will participate in Friday's discussions in Alaska.

“She was not involved in her organization. I would say she could go, but she participated in many meetings. You know, she has been there for three and a half. Nothing happened,” Trump told reporters.

“We will have a meeting with Vladimir Putin and, at the end of it, probably in the first two minutes, I will know exactly if an agreement can be reached,” said Trump.

“How will you know that?”, A reporter insisted.

“Because that's what I do. I make agreements,” Trump replied.

The president later added that a meeting between Putin and Zenski will be required.

“Finally, I will put the two in a room. I will be there or not, and I think the problem will be solved,” Trump said.

The US president said that “there may be many definitions” of a good agreement, but it seemed to reduce expectations before the Friday summit.

“I expect to have a meeting with Putin who I think will be good, but it could be bad,” Trump said.

Trump said twice, by mistake, that he “goes to Russia”

Donald Trump has allocated a long time in his wide press conference at the White House talking about Russia and his future meeting with Vladimir Putin.

But he was wrong twice during the briefing that lasted over an hour, saying he would meet with the Kremlin leader in Russia, not in Alaska.

He first said this when he announced the declaration of the “public emergency” in Washington DC: “It is a tragic situation and I am ashamed to be here. You know, I go to meet Putin. On Friday I go to Russia. I do not like to be here and talk about how uncertain, it has been so bad.

Later, at the press conference, Trump said: “We go to Russia. It will be an important event.”

But, in the end, he said: “It seemed very respectful that the President of Russia comes to our country, instead of going to his country or even in a third country.”

After former US President Joe Biden, mistakenly presented Volodimir Zelenski as “Vladimir Putin”, before they quickly corrected, the Republicans described Trump's predecessor as “totally inappropriate for this function.”

“It does not depend on me to end an agreement.”

Donald Trump insisted that he will meet Vladimir Putin on Friday to discuss the parameters of a peace agreement before meeting with Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelenski and European leaders.

“I will not conclude an agreement. It is not my job to conclude an agreement. I think the agreement must be concluded for both sides,” Trump told journalists at the White House.

He reiterated that he would like to attend both Putin and Zelenski at the next meeting.

Donald Trump, who had promised to resolve the conflict in Ukraine within 24 hours of his return to the White House, has shown increasing in the last period, as Russia has intensified its bombings over Ukraine in recent months.

Ukraine is afraid that the meeting between Putin and Trump, stipulated so far without Zelenski's participation, could lead to an agreement that would force her to give up parts of her territory.

Zelenski: The “concessions” towards Russia will not convince her to stop the war

In fact, Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelenski said on Monday that any concessions to Russia will not convince her to stop battles in Ukraine and stressed that the pressure on the Kremlin has been intensified, Reuters and AFP have previously reported.

“Russia extends the war and therefore it takes a stronger global pressure. Russia refuses to stop massacres and, therefore, it does not have to receive any rewards or benefits. And this is not just a moral position, it is a rational position,” Zelenski wrote on the X network, before the Summit, in Friday.

“Concessions do not convince a criminal,” Zelenski added.

The foreign ministers in the EU countries were to attend an emergency meeting on Monday through video conference, to reach a common position before the meeting between Trump and Putin, against the background of a Kiev's detriment agreement, notes Agerpres.

The head of European diplomacy, Kaja Kallas, said that any agreement between the United States and Russia “must include Ukraine and the EU” because “it is a matter of security for Ukraine and the whole of Europe.”
