Poland will not achieve this year's goals provided for in the EU AFIR regulation, regarding the launch of charging zones of passenger and vanity electric cars along the trans -European network – according to the report of the Polish Association of New Mobility (PSNM).

The AFIR (Alternative Fuels Infrastructure Regulation) regulation contains regulations that are aimed at unifying and accelerating the development of the infrastructure of charging electric vehicles throughout the European Union. It introduces specific requirements for the power and distribution of charging station, especially along the TEN-T network, i.e. the trans-European transport network. 2 out of 9 transport corridors, connecting the Baltic with the Adriatic and the North Sea, run through Poland.
“For the first 6 months of this year, the completion of goals regarding the launch of charging zones for personal and delivery” electricians “along the TEN-T network in Poland increased by only 3 percentage points-from 11 to 14 percent in other categories of obligations, referring in particular to the comprehensive network of TEN-T and charging zones for heavy vehicles, Poland in practice did not even start to achieve the objectives of their composition still amounts to 0 percent. ” – indicated in the study.
AFIR provides, among others The need to be placed a maximum of 60 km along the TEN-T base network, charging zones for passenger cars and vans. Each one is to have a total power of at least 400 kW, and by 2027 – at least 600 kW.
“The biggest challenge still remains too low infrastructure density. The number of publicly available points along the TEN-T network has increased by over 12 % over the past six months, in total to almost 1000 devices. This is theoretically a high pace of development and a very good result, but most charging zones in Poland are still too far away from each other in the light of very restrictive affair requirements resulting from the regulation The infrastructure for passenger cars are currently implemented for 2025 and 2027 and relative to the infrastructure for passenger cars in approximately 14 and 8 percent, unfortunately, we already know that the goals and for 2025, and on 2027 we will not be able to realize in a timely manner ” – noted Aleksander Rajch from PSNM.
As indicated by the authors of the report, in the case of a comprehensive network (including access roads leading to the main sections), the level of fulfillment of duties is even lower – it is still less than 1 percent in practice.
AFIR also sets targets in the infrastructure area for electric heavy vehicles (EHDV). For example, by the end of 2027, along half of the TEN-T base network, the charging zone with at least 2800 kW will function for EHDV. By 2030, the power of each such zone should increase up to 3600 kW.

These current goals are met in Poland in 0 percent. General available charging points for electric trucks operate in 3 locations, located among themselves at too large distances from the perspective of AFIR requirements.
“Certainly, the great interest in the connection co-financing program. In mid-July, the whole first allocation under the first recruitment-almost PLN 1 billion-was reserved. It is a signal that both the charging infrastructure industry and the operators of the distribution system are interested in the expansion of the necessary infrastructure along the Ten-T. NFOŚiGw network and central administration should follow The fastest to make more funds available, without waiting for the resolution of the completed recruitment, “said Jan Wiśniewski from PSNM.
