At a meeting with farmers, President Nawrocki signed the bill “on the protection of the Polish countryside”, which – as he informed – assumes the extension of the ban on the sale of land belonging to the agricultural property of the Treasury expired in 2026. “The Act on the protection of the Polish countryside calls on the parliamentary majority to extend the moratorium on the ban on the sale of Polish soil and I signed it today,” said the president.

The draft also included a postulate to change the preamble of the Act on shaping the agricultural system, which the president described as “the constitution of Polish agriculture”. In his opinion, this is to be a security for the negative effects of the contract with Mercosur countries or the influx of agricultural products from Ukraine.
“The president was misled”
These activities met with the reaction of Jacek Czerniak, who at the conference in Janów Podlaski described the president's proposals as “misunderstandings”. The deputy minister expressed the opinion that the presidential advisers “misled him” in matters of agriculture. He informed that the Ministry of Agriculture is already working on a draft law that extends the ban on selling land for the next 10 years and the Act on the production function of the Polish village. “We protect Polish land for a Polish farmer,” Czerniak emphasized, while reminding that the largest sales of land to foreigners took place during PiS rule in 2022.
Deputy Minister of Agriculture Adam Nowak, in the same conference, reminded that the current government unlocked funds from European funds to agriculture. As he emphasized, financing for a number of projects, such as the development of research infrastructure or support for warehouse and distribution centers, has been increased. He also added that the coalition government softened the unfavorable provisions of the EU green order, which is now voluntary and additionally paid.
Krajewski: PSL is fighting Mercosur
Minister of Agriculture Stefan Krajewski criticized on Saturday on platform X there are no references to farmers in the president's recent message. “It's good that he reflected and fixed this mistake. Unfortunately, he has bad advisers because he was misled” – assessed. Krajewski also reminded that this is the Polish People's Party since 2019. He has been alerting about the threats arising from the negotiated Mercosur agreement. He added that the coalition government took action to block this system, building an international coalition of opponents of the contract. He also expressed the hope that President Nawrocki would support the government's efforts to protect the interests of Polish farmers.
