The US does not recognize the Palestinian state. JD Vance explains Washington's decision

“We are not planning to recognize the Palestinian state. I do not know what it would mean, given the lack of a functioning government,” said Vance.
At the same time, he stated that Great Britain made his own decisions and may consider Palestine as a sovereign state. In his opinion, London and Washington may “have discrepancies as to how to achieve common goals.”
The American politician reminded that US President Donald Trump has two goals: “bringing Hamas to be unable to re -attack innocent Israeli civilians “and solve the humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip. He explained that in his opinion the first task would be to “eradicate” Hamas. He added that the US government is making “extremely high efforts” to increase help for the inhabitants of the Gaza Strip.
Lammy announced that the Prime Minister of Great Britain Keir Starmer discusses the issues of the Gaza Zone with US President Donald Trump every week. He assured that both sides want to suspend weapons and release Israeli hostages kidnapped and detained by Hamas. The head of British diplomacy expressed concern about the Friday decision of Israel regarding the occupation of the city of Gaza and the escalation of the offensive in half -blacks.
During the meeting with journalists, Vance tried to avoid answers when he was asked to comment on Trump's words, who pointed to him as the “most likely” successor in the White House in 2028. The vice president admitted that he is currently not focusing on the federal elections in 2026, “let alone those that will take place two years later”.
“If we do a good job for the American nation, the politician will work out itself,” he emphasized.
The vice president was also asked if he had concerns about freedom of speech in Great Britain, because he had previously openly claimed that there was a case of censorship. He replied that “he expressed some fears and criticism towards friends on this side of the Atlantic”, but added that in this case he focused primarily on the situation in the United States.
The JD Vance visit to Great Britain is private. Together with his wife and three children, he will spend their holidays in Cotswolds, a region with picturesque rural landscapes and towns with stone buildings. Americans also plan to visit the Hampton Court Palace in London.
