Romania has Olympics AI: Eight medals obtained by Romanian students at the China artificial intelligence Olympiad

Romania obtained a gold medal, four silver and three bronze at the second edition of the International Artificial Intelligence Olympiad, held in Beijing, between August 2 and 9, 2025. The eight Romanian participating students were part of two teams and ranked among the best of the competition, which took 310 students, on the Ministry of Education.
The International Artificial Intelligence Olympiad is in the second edition and takes place in Beijing, China, between August 2-9, 2025.
However, it is not the first victory for Romania in this area. In 2024, the Romanian students were noted with distinctions at international competitions in Bulgaria and Saudi Arabia.
The results obtained by the two teams of Romania
Team 1:

The Romanian students were accompanied by Nan Mihai, the National University of Science and Technology Polytechnic Bucharest, Miron Alexandru-Bogdan, Babeș Bolyai University Cluj-Napoca, and Popa Daniel, “Aurel Vlaicu” National College, Orăștie, Hunedoara, according to the Ministry of Education.
Our country is also represented at the level of the organization committee of the International Olympiad by Prof. Univ. Habil. Dr. Radu Ionescu and assist. Univ. Dr. Miruna Zăvelcă, from the University of Bucharest.
Results from past years
At the inaugural edition of 2024, Romania participated in two international competitions dedicated to artificial intelligence. In August, at the Olympiad organized in Bulgaria, the Romanian students won a silver and two bronze medal. A month later, in Saudi Arabia, they obtained three medals – gold, silver and bronze – and third place on nations.
