Free vaccination against HPV until the age of 26 enters a straight line: the vaccine will be able to be raised from the pharmacy with a prescription from the doctor and be completely settled by the health insurance house, for both women and men up to 26 years.

The extension of the age of 26 of the free vaccination against HPV was approved by a law adopted by the Parliament in May. The government approved, on Friday, the rules of application, through an emergency ordinance.

People who want to be vaccinated can obtain the anti-HPV vaccine in open circuit pharmacies, based on a prescription issued by the family doctor, according to the Ministry of Health.

Vaccination is done at the family doctor, epidemiologists, infectious diseases, pediatricians and doctors from other specialties who have certified vaccinology and have a contract with health insurance houses.

So far, HPV vaccination was free for girls between 11 and 18 years old (introduced in 2020) and for boys in the same age category (starting in December 2023).

Also, women who have exceeded the age of 26 can benefit from 50% offset vaccine up to 45 years.
