It is a 10-kilometer section between the Oświęcim and Brzeszcze junctions, which is an important element of the route connecting Mysłowice with Bielsko-Biała. Along with it, a 600-meter fragment of DK44 and part of the Oświęcim beltway will also be handed over-informs the General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways (GDDKiA).
The construction of the S1 expressway is one of the most important infrastructure projects in southern Poland.
Until the completion of neighboring S1 sections and renovations on DK44 in Oświęcim, the newly devoted route will be available only to vehicles of up to 3.5 tonnes.
Subsequent fragments of the route, including sections Dankowice-Bielsko-Biała Hałcnów and Bieruń – Oświęcimare to be put into use later this year. The whole of the S1 route, from Mysłowice to Bielsko-Białawill be available until 2027.

The value of the entire investment is almost PLN 2.3 billion, of which just over PLN 1 billion comes from EU funds under the European Funds program for infrastructure, climate, environment (Phoenix).
The S1 expressway is a key element of the 6th corridor of the trans -European transport network connecting the Baltic Sea pool countries with South Europe. To the south of Poland, its extension is the Slovak highway D3. Ultimately, the S1 route will have a length of over 133 km and in the whole will be managed by the General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways (GDDKiA).
In total, three road junctions (Oświęcim, Wola, Brzeszcze) and 18 engineering facilities, including flyovers, viaducts and bridges, were built on the Oświęcim – Dankowice section, with nearly 16 km. Among them stands out with a flyover over 480 m long, conducting the route over the railway line, animal crossings and Tesznowiec pond, as well as a 224 m road bridge on the Vistula.
The investment also includes the construction of ecological infrastructure, including seven amphibians, six road culverts that serve as animal crossings and 17 retention reservoirs. The total width of the lane on each road is 3.75 m, and the emergency belts have a width of 2.5 m. The road design allows the construction of a third lane in the future.
