The Minister of Education, Daniel David, met on Monday with the representatives of the three trade union organizations involved in protest forms, the ministry announced in a press release.
The meeting with the representatives of the Federation of Free Trade Unions, the Federation of Education Trade Unions “Spiru Haret” and the “Alma Mater” National Trade Union Federation took place at the Ministry's headquarters.
“The representatives of the unions specified their views and reasons for protests and made a series of requests. Minister Daniel David expressed his opening to find the best solutions regarding the application of the fiscal-budgetary law during and in the context of public consultation regarding the subsequent legislation,” notes the Ministry of Education.
The institution specified that “the requests of the unions, which exceed the duties of the ministry, will be submitted for the analysis of the government/coalition”.
“Also, the representatives of the ministry stated that, at this moment, there are no discounts in the Ministry's budget, but for the proper functioning until the end of the year (covering the expenses), if the measures notified, an addition of about 2 billion RON is needed,” the transmitted statement said.
The Minister of Education said that he understands the “discomfort created” of measures
Speaking on Thursday about the new regulations, Daniel David said that he understands the teachers' dissatisfaction, but that the new measures “are necessary to ensure the payment of salaries and scholarships in the education system, under the conditions of an unprecedented budget.”
“As a minister, I have the legal obligation to implement the laws in force (and the governance program). The measures taken by Law no. 141/2025 are necessary, not desired, in order to be able to protect our salaries and scholarships from autumn.
He said he understands the “created discomfort.”
“It is incorrect to believe that it is not difficult for me to apply them and that I do not understand the discomfort created. This is why I said that any fiscal-budgetary measures can only be taken if, in the context of their application, the positions of the people and the salaries are protected and the principles of rationality are respected (not to leave the European landmarks), as well as to the European lands. Education, Daniel David.
