Due to problems with mobile internet and GPS navigation, Russian volunteers have become more difficult to find wandering people in the woods and coordinate their work, writes the Russian Telegram channel “Attention, news”, quoted by Meduza.

According to the channel, members of the search teams faced such problems in the Tula, Lipețk, Oriol, Leningrad and Altai regions. Now, rescuers need to be more and more focused using a compass and paper maps, which reduces the number of searchers, provided that not all volunteers can work without a digital navigator.

Tula volunteers stated that the preparations for searching were previously ad-hoc, just before leaving, but that everything must be prepared in advance. For this reason, the beginning of the searches is delayed by an hour and a half, and the time of search itself increases.

In addition, due to communication limitations, volunteers are not always able to launch quadcopters – drones to assist the searches in the air.

Searchers in the Ivanovo region also reported problems in their activity due to communications interruptions.

In recent months, the mobile internet has been temporarily stopped in different regions of Russia. This is due to the increasingly frequent massive attacks of Ukrainian drones.

Mobile Internet feathers in Russia

According to the project “On the Line”, which collects users complaints and checks them using technical means, in July Russia's inhabitants have faced mobile internet interruptions at least 2,099 times-an absolute record

For comparison, in May the Mobile Internet was stopped in Russia 69 times, and in June 662 times, according to registered complaints.

The governor of the Ninji Novgorod region, where the mobile internet was stopped for over a month, told the inhabitants last week to have patience and that the situation has a therapeutic effect.

In the Krasnoiarsk County in the center of Siberia, where the problems have more recently, people complained to the situation authorities and asked the local governor what solutions exist for those who work remotely and who are now risked running out of jobs due to loss to mobile internet.

“It is enough to work for everyone at the special military operation,” a regional official responsible for communicating with the public replied.

The governor, on the other hand, appealed to “understanding” by the inhabitants, motivating that restrictions are related to “the need to strengthen security measures in certain areas of Krasnoiarsk district based on the operational situation and prevent threats to the network.”

He hesitated to name Ukrainian attacks with drones as a cause of mobile internet interruption.
