
At the tournament, held in German Dusseldorf, Gladun and Lazarenko won three victories in a row, defeating couples from Germany, the Netherlands and Spain, and went to the final against athletes from France Viirea and Shamero.
In the final, after the loss of the first set 21:23, the Ukrainians leveled the score, winning the second – 21:18. In the decisive set, with equal game 13:13, they realized the second – 16:14, having won the historical “gold” of the European Championship.
The media noted that in the women's tournament, representatives of Ukraine still never made their way beyond the 1/8 finals.
According to Lazarenko, at first she could not believe in victory. Gladun noted that the game was stressful.
“But we remained to the end with a team – and won,” said Gladun.
