The indefinite strike began on Friday; Rescuers demand, among others better working conditions and higher salaries. Protests take place, among others At Sant Jaume Square, where the headquarters of municipal and regional authorities are located – rescuers spread umbrellas, towels and banners.

The regional authorities ordered minimal services on beaches of 50 %, which ensures the operation of at least one rescue tower on the beach. Rescuers themselves call for special caution.

On Saturday, the daily ABC announced that there was almost a tragedy on Mar Bella's beach: a sinking person was saved by another sunbathe, because there were no lifeguards in the nearby tower.

According to the Spanish Television portal, Antena 3 was drowned in June throughout the country; From the beginning of the year it has been over 210 cases of drowning. The rescue service on Barcelon beaches consists of about 80 people. They warn that the lack of staff and resources threaten the safety of beaches users.
