Billions of investments in gas in Poland. The network is ready for large transmissions

Participants of the discussion panel “Gas in energy and heating” discussed the opportunities that Polish companies have in terms of quality, transmission and storage of gas during the European Economic Congress in Katowice. Investments in this sector of the economy are huge, thanks to which the great demand of Poles for this energy raw material is met.

Huge investments in gas in Poland
Polska Spółka Gazownictwa spends approximately PLN 3 billion on investments every year, including decarbonization and energy transformation, including biomethane-related projects, said PSG board member Wojciech Kowalski on Thursday. He also emphasized that the transmission network is prepared to transmit large volumes of gas.
— PSG is responsible for distributing gas throughout Poland, our network is over 215,000. km of gas pipelines, 11 thousand station – he informed, quoted by PAP. He added that PSG supplies gas to over 7 million customers.
When implementing investments, PSG uses EU funds and is currently implementing 19 programs under the European Funds for Infrastructure, Climate and Environment.

In turn, the director of the gas market development department at Gaz-System, Katarzyna Szeniawska, informed that the company has over 12,000 gas pipelines allowing the distribution of gas regardless of the direction of supply. She also mentioned energy storage facilities, of which the company has approximately 50 million cubic meters at its disposal. per day, but this capacity is expected to increase.
However, Orlen's representative, Rafał Wardziński, pointed out that the company extracts more gas abroad than in Poland. — In Norway, we have the ambition to extract 6 billion cubic meters by the end of 2030. gas and we are developing these projects all the time (…) By the end of 2030, we want to supply 10 billion cubic meters of gas to the system from this direction and from domestic extraction. gas, he informed.
He added that Orlen's forecasts indicate that in 2035 the demand for gas will amount to 27 billion cubic meters, so it would like to supply the market with approximately 1/3 from its own production, and the rest from the contract portfolio.
