The Minister of Economy announces that the value of the damages caused by the fire at the Cugir weapon factory amounts to about half a million euros. He says that deliveries from the ongoing contracts were not affected by the fire, Cites News.ro.

The Minister of Economy, Radu Miruţă, announces that the value of the damages caused by the “aggressive” fire from the Cugir armament factory, Alba county, amounts to about half a million euros. It states that the deliveries that the factory must make based on the contracts they have were not affected by the fire.

“I was to be interested in the stocks that this factory has, because there are some ongoing contracts and we must make sure that those contracts can be executed, even if some of what has been there is destroyed. Yes, they can be executed, the piece that was destroyed does not affect the flow of order, in relation to the period when they must be delivered,” said Radu.

He said that the fire was manifested “aggressive” and that for four hours boxes with cartridges exploded.

“Simply, box after the box, they exploded these cartridges until three and a half – four in the morning, that is, for about four hours,” the minister explained.

He said that there is no question that the value of the damages would be of the order of millions of euros.

“We know the numbers that were destroyed millimeters millimeter, they are somewhere around 450-500 thousand euros,” said Radu Miruţă.

“I am very concerned about finding out what the cause was.”

The Minister of Economy, Radu Miruţă, was on Saturday in Cugir, where he discussed with the weapons factory, following the explosion produced during the morning, saying that he is “very concerned, without any millimeter”, to find out what was the cause, “to hide absolutely nothing, to see if it is imputable”.

Miruţă explained that he went to the scene because he knows that he receives “better” information than if he were at a distance.

“The good piece is that they are not victims, the good piece is that the damages are small, I congratulate the ones from ISU who acted exemplary and they are the ones because of which a disaster happened. Evil, ”said Radu Miruţă.

He stressed that he wants to make sure that “the investigations are going on as a professional to happen” and that is why he wants to talk to those on the spot.

The fire broke out during the Friday night to Saturday in the ammunition hall of the Cugir weapon factory, for extinguishing the fire, both forces from ISU Alba and special vehicles within ISU Mures and Brasov intervening. Around 5.00, the firefighters announced that the fire was no longer manifested with open flame. No victims were registered.
