Although the Sejm adopted the amendment to the Teacher's Card, the Polish Teachers' Union continues the protest ambulance. The main demands relate to the connection of teachers' salaries with the national average and 10 % salary increases. If these demands are not met, on September 1, 2025, a manifestation of education workers will take place in Warsaw.
From June 24 this year. A protest ambulance is being announced by the Main Board of the Polish Teachers' Union. As part of it, an information campaign is carried out regarding the growing problems of the education system and ZNP demands addressed to the government, the Minister of Education and the Minister of Science and Higher Education.
A large manifestation in the plan
– We also call on deputies to take up work in the Sejm as soon as possible on the Civic Initiative of the ZNP “worthy of wages and high prestige of teachers”, i.e. the connection of their earnings with the average salary in the economy, so as to respond to decisions in this matter. The prime minister promised us in November 2023. Since then, I had been 20 months, and the work has not started – says Bankier.pl Urszulka Woźniak, vice president of the Main Board of the Polish Teachers' Union.
– Education is an investment, not a cost. Without it, there is no innovation, a well -functioning economy or prosperity. Teachers still have very low wages, not much higher than the minimum wage for work, and much lower than professional groups with similar education, qualifications and responsibility.

According to Urszula Woźniak, In the event of failure to fulfill these demands by August 25, 2025, when the Presidium of ZG ZNP met, the union will start a protest, starting with the organization of September 1, 2025 of Warsaw. nationwide manifestation of education workers.
Changes in the Teacher's Card
Meanwhile, last week, on July 25, 2025, the Sejm adopted changes in the teacher's card, which is to enter into force on September 1, 2025. Now they will be considered by the Senate. According to the Ministry of National Education, which has prepared their project, they are also a response to the postulates of trade unions.
Among the changes in the teacher's card were:
- shortening the period of employment of a beginner teacher – A contract for a fixed period shortened from two school years to one school year
- clarifying the mentor's duties
- extension of the group entitled to compensation pensions – on public and private teachers of educational and educational institutions, vocational education centers and industry skills, artistic institutions, pedagogical libraries, teacher training institutions and colleges of social services employees, as well as teachers employed in district educational centers, correctional facilities and minor shelters.
- New provisions on previous teaching pensions
- Liquidation of the so -called “Black hours” – Additional, free working hours introduced during the PiS rule
- clarifying the remuneration rules for oversized hours – The teacher will receive remuneration for unrealized oversized hours if he was conducting other classes ordered by the school head and taking into account the needs of students
- Limiting unjustified ad hoc replacements
- unification of the pensum of teachers of vocational subjects – teachers practical vocational training will have the same weekly hours of hours as teachers of theoretical subjects – 18 hours (so far 20 hours).
- change in the date of payment of remuneration components, whose amount can be determined only on the basis of already completed works – will be paid monthly or once from below to the fifth day of the month following the month for which this remuneration is due.
- Restoring the possibility of entrusting the position of the school head for the next period without the need for a competition
Necessary increases for teachers
As the Vice President of ZG ZG ZGP admits, work on the amendment to the provisions on the Teacher's Card gained momentum. In her opinion, it is almost certain that on August 5 this year. The Sejm will adopt favorable changes, which until now seemed impossible.
– However, it was only one of our postulates. We also demand an increase in teachers' salaries from September 1, 2025 by 10 percent. and the quick proceeding of the civic initiative – says Urszula Woźniak.
According to trade unionists, subsequent governments do not introduce system solutions, they only put out fires.
– When the police rebel, he gets an unsigned housing supplement from 900 to 1800 PLN. If the hands are missing in social assistance, the government introduces a three -year subsidy program for the remuneration of local government employees -1000 PLN as a motivational allowance. Whereas Teachers in 2024 received 30 and 33 percent salary increases. Only nobody remembers what level these increases were from – explains Urszula Woźniak.
– A beginner teacher had a salary of PLN 3,690, and appointed PLN 3890, while the minimum wage for work was PLN 4,242. For the first time, teachers were paid the compensatory allowance to the minimum wage – he adds.
According to her, in Warsaw, a service worker at the teacher's help, where only primary education is required, earns more than a teacher. Meanwhile, qualifications and responsibility are incomparable here.
– You also need to change the education of teachers and stop thinking that they can do as always – adds the representative of the ZNP
