The application for establishing on August 1, a public free day was supported by the Sejm Commission for Petitions. This date commemorates the outbreak of the Warsaw Uprising and has been celebrated as the National Day of Remembrance for several years.

According to Business Insider, The Sejm Committee on Petitions supported the request of a group of citizens to establish a public holiday on August 1. The petition emphasized that this day should be a time of reflection and homage to heroes, and therefore free from professional duties.
Now the decision belongs to the ministry
Thanks to the positive opinion of the application by the Commission, a desiderate was adopted, which was directed to the Ministry of Family, Labor and Social Policy. If the proposal is accepted there, the project will go to the Sejm. However, the President of the Republic of Poland may also decide on a new day off.
