The European Union wants to prohibit buying large customers of new combustion cars five years before 2035, when the restriction covers the entire market. The industry has a long list of counterarguments – writes “Puls Biznesu”.

As the daily reminded, according to the German reports, “Bild am Sonntag” in the European Commission, work is underway to ban the purchase of new cars with internal combustion engines for car rentals and large fleets. While such a ban is to be introduced in the EU in 2035, the fleet and rentals are to be covered by it in 2030. The weekly claims that he obtained confirmation in Brussels that the work is ongoing. The European Union, however, did not provide details.
“PB” adds that if the ideas described entered into force, they would influence a significant part of the new car market. About 60 percent All new registration in the EU falls on fleet customers and rentals, while about 40 percent. Individual customers acquire.
As the newspaper points out, the industry indicates some basic problems, and the main of them is charging infrastructure. While the situation looks good in large European cities, in tourist locations, where a significant part of the rental shop operates, it is much worse. Greek islands are given as an example, where there are few charging points, because seasonality discourages the investment.
“We are aware of the fact that the EU has long -term climate goals, which it successively implements in all Member States. However, the proposal to introduce the obligation to buy only electric cars to the fleet from 2030. It can bring the opposite effect to the intended effects” – says Sixt Polska, President of Sixt Polski Łukasz Żurek in an interview with “PB”. He emphasizes that charging infrastructure, especially outside large cities, is still insufficient.
Dziennik interlocutors also point out that the ban on buying new cars other than electric cars for fleets may lead to the extending period of the exploitation of combustion cars, which will negatively translate into safety. (PAP)
