The British newspaper said that Tempest, whose length was designed at 19 meters, can be a larger fighter than the F-35B (15.6 m) and Typhoon (15.96 m). According to the newspaper, the new aircraft will have larger fuel tanks, and thus a longer range and more spacious recesses for armament. As revealed, it is to be equipped with technology enabling cooperation with other aircraft, drones, satellites and land forces.

“Telegraph” suggests that Tempest “has been designed for long -distance missions deeply on the territory of the enemy, where communication with the parent base may not be possible.” The newspaper concludes that The fighter after starting from the British airport will be able to reach Moscow, i.e. cover about 2500 km. For comparison, Typhoon on the only fuel tank is able to cover about 1300 km, and F-35B-1000 km. Asked by “Telegraph” Jonna Morereton from Bae Systems did not confirm whether these newspapers are correct.

In an interview with the newspaper, the defense analyst Francis Tusa stated that the maximum starting weight of Tempesta can be over 30 tons, compared to 23 tons on the Typhoon aircraft. As noted, it is more than the mass of the Lancaster bomber used by the British Air Force during World War II.

Bae Systems is part of the Tempest group, which includes the British Ministry of Defense and Rolls-Royce, a manufacturer of MBDA missiles and the Italian company Leonardo. In 2023, the initiative became part of the Triparte GCAP agreement.
