US-EU agreement in the hands of Donald Trump. “50-50, maybe less”

Talking to journalists before going to Scotland, Trump said that the chances of entering into a commercial agreement that reduces the level of customs duties for EU products was “50-50, maybe less”, although he stated that the EU “very” wants it.

He added, however, that until recently he assessed the chances of concluding a contract with Japan at 25 percent, and yet it happened.

– They [Japończycy] They were still coming back with new proposals and we concluded a contract. This agreement is based on the fact that Japan will spend $ 550 billion and also pay duties. But the most important part of the contract with Japan – and maybe we can achieve it with the EU, or maybe not – is that we have the right to trade – they completely opened Japan for the United States – said the American president.

“200 countries” covered by duties

Trump assessed that a possible agreement with the EU will be one of the last ones, because in most cases the US will simply inform the countries about what customs goods will be covered by their countries. He announced that next week he would start sending letters with such information to “200 countries”.
