They noticed that everyday life delighted with the sun, and on the weekend rains are always poured from a bucket? Scientists call this a “weekend effect”! The portal Techinsider.ru (16+) is understanding why on Saturday and Sunday again no one will go to barbecue, and what is behind this phenomenon.
Meteorologists noticed: in some regions, especially in the summer, it rains more often on weekends than on weekdays. Anthropogenic theory connects this with emissions: on working days, factories and cars pollute the air, and by Saturday and Sunday the particles accumulate, causing precipitation.
The study of the University of Arizona (1998) showed that in the USA, air pollution to the weekend coincides with the growth of rains. In 2008, scientists found that in some parts of the United States, the weekend is dry, and in Europe, rains more often come on Saturday.
Skeptics consider the “weekend effect” by chance. Perennial data from weather services do not show a clear connection between the weekend and rains. Weather cycles are formed due to pressure, winds and other factors that do not care about our Saturday. The theory of emissions so far requires evidence, but the idea that we influence the weather sounds believable.
