Dozens of flights affected by strike on Saturday, on several airports in Europe frequented by Romanians

Italy will be hit on Saturday by large -scale airport strikes, which will affect a number of airlines such as Ryanair, Easyjet, Volotea and Wizz Air, among others. And in Spain there will be a strike at one of the low-cost Spanish companies. Thus, the holiday plans of thousands of trips can be given over the head, according to Euronews.ro.
Airport workers will organize a four -hour national strike on July 26, which could lead to dozens of delays and flight cancellations.
The strike is based on claims on improving safety, improving working conditions and balance between professional and private life, as well as renewing contracts at national level.
What flights can be affected
Important airlines, such as Easyjet, Ryanair, British Airways, Wizz Air, Tui, Volotea and Ita Airways could be affected, because it is expected that luggage handling, ground staff and airport workers will strike on Saturday, between 13:00 and 17:00, on all Italian airports.
The Airports Milano Malpensa, Milan Linate, Rome Fiumicino, Florence, Naples and Venice are targeted. At Milano Linate Airport, gate services and check-in Swissport staff will also be on strike.
Earlier this month, the strikes in Italy led to the cancellation of 73 input and exit flights in a single day. They included flights from Milan Linate, Milan Malpensa, Venice Marco Polo and Napoli.
Spanish flights are also likely to be affected this weekend, because the crew and pilots of the Spanish airline with a low budget Volotea organize a strike and Saturday. This could have a wide impact on the main European air routes. Currently, this airline operates flights to over 100 European cities.
What can travel
Although these future strikes will undoubtedly cause unpleasantness, there are some measures that travelers can take to be prepared and better informed.
These include checking the website of the Ministry of Transport in Italy for official strike information, as well as the request of the latest updates from certain airlines and airports. Also, travelers are advised to confirm the state of their flight before leaving for the airport.
If the travel plans cannot be modified according to the strike data, avoiding peak hours while heading to the airport and arriving with enough time available can also be useful.
According to the Italian legislation, minimum levels of services are required during the strike, which ensures the operation of flights as usual. The flights scheduled between 7.00 and 10.00 and between 18.00 and 21.00 usually fall under these regulations and are likely to be affected.
The Italian Civil Aeronautical Authority (ENAC) also publishes a list of guaranteed flights, which travelers can check to find alternative solutions. Flights to certain islands, such as to and from Sardinia, Sicily and Lampedusa, are often excluded from strikes.
In some cases, travelers may be entitled to damages.
