Zelanski announces a new anti -corruption act. “Presidential project”


– We analyzed all fears, all aspects of what should be changed and what should be activated. I will propose a bill to the Supreme Council of Ukraine, which will strengthen the law enforcement system – said Zelanski in a video speech.
– There will be no Russian influence or interference in law enforcement agencies – he emphasized. – And what is very important, all standards of independence that anti -corruption institutions must have – he assured.
He added that he expected law enforcement authorities and anti -corruption institutions as well as proposals from the prosecutor general of Ukraine. – It will be a presidential project and we will implement it as part of our state transformation strategy – announced Zelanski.
The controversial decision of the Ukrainian parliament
On Tuesday, the Ukrainian Parliament voted the Act on the reduction of the autonomy of the National Anti -Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NAB) and the Special Anti -Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAP), which are now to be subject to the Prosecutor's Office of Ukraine. The day before, SBU carried out searches in anti -corruption institutions; At least two people were detained.

The director of Nabu Semen Krywonos stated on a press briefing that the parliament, when adopting the bill on limiting NAB and SAP autonomy, actually destroyed anti -corruption infrastructure.
Protestants, opposing the new law, came out to the streets of Ukrainian cities. Protests against the act took place, among others in Lviv, Dnieper and Odessa and Kiev.
On Wednesday, Zelnski, quoted by AFP, defended the parliament's decision. – We all have a common enemy: Russian occupiers. To defend the Ukrainian state, we need a strong law enforcement system, able to ensure a real sense of justice – he said.
The Ukrainian president also accused anti -corruption institutions of inefficiency. – Criminal proceedings may not continue for years without final judgments. And those who act against Ukraine cannot feel unpunished – he emphasized.
Also on Wednesday, Zelanski, the management of law enforcement agencies and anti -corruption institutions, including NAB and SAP, as well as the Prosecutor General Rusłan Krawczenko agreed that Next week a working meeting will be held on a joint action plan. In two weeks this plan is to be ready.
