Pepco business in Germany brings losses. There is a bankruptcy application


In Poland, the Pepco logo chain is growing. There are more shops, sales results go up, business is spinning. The German Pepco unit cannot say the same. According to Reuters, he submits a bankruptcy petition for restructuring.
“Pepco Germans submitted a request to initiate proceedings in court in Berlin. The branch runs 64 stores and employs about 500 people. All stores will remain open until further notice” – writes Reuters.

The agency indicates that the company appointed Christian Stoffler as a restructuring director who will supervise this process.
“We see good possibilities of reorganizing the chain of stores in Germany so that it can prosper despite the difficult situation on the German retail market” – said Christian Stoffler in a statement.
Pepco losses in Germany
Pepco announced that its German network from the moment of entering the market in 2022 was struggling with difficulties and now brings losses.

The Pepco Group has the most stores in Poland. We are talking about about 1,400 sales points. Romania with a network of 500 stores is in second place, and the Czech market is the third (about 300).

He specializes in selling clothing for the whole family, household items, decorations, toys, textiles and seasonal products. Pepco stores are usually located in shopping centers and galleries.
