

According to the agency, the boys were most often called Alexander, Mark, Timofei, Matvey, Maxim, Artem, Bogdan, Damir, Daniil, Dmitry and Makar.
The most popular names for girls for six months were Sofia, Emilia, Eve, Milan, Solomia, Victoria, Polina, Anna, Maria, Veronica.
Among the unusual names that Ukrainians called their children over the specified period, there are ancient – Ares, Aeneas, Slavic – Askold, Zoreslav, Radomir, as well as the names of characters from the series – Carpo, Lavrin, Cosmos, Lucifer and Oscar.
For girls, added to the Ministry of Justice, such rare names as Alisha, Assol, Valkyrie, Lola, Lukery, Aurora, Jasmine, Lia Ainin, Eden Rosa and Munachi Ive became trendy.
“A complete list of the most popular and least used names, which were called children in the first half of 2025, can be viewed by the reference,” the ministry said.
Context
In 2024, according to the Ministry of Justice, more than 176 thousand children were born. The most popular female names were Anna, Sofia, Maria, Catherine, Solomiya, Polina, Victoria and Milan. The most popular male: Artem, Maxim, Bogdan, Dmitry, Mikhail, Andrey, Denis, Daniil, Timofei, Makar and Mark. Among the rare female names last year are Barbie, a call, an angel, root, Gorynya, Jasmine. And among the male – Solomon, Tamerlan, Aeneas, Svyatogor, Arnold.
Also on March 4, 2025, the Ministry of Justice announced rare names that gained popularity among Ukrainians during a full -scale war. Parents called newborn children, in particular, Yan-Mirolyub, Javelina and Arthur-Bayractar.
