Chinese brands reach a record share on the European car market. What are the best -selling cars in the first half of 2025

China car brands have had the largest market share last month since they entered Europe and five brands lead offensive, JATO data shows. The best -selling car model from all brands was Dacia Sandero, followed by Renault Clio and Peugeot 208.

Chinese brands had a record rate of 5.7%last month, almost double a year ago (3.3%). Five brands have the best figures: Byd, Jaecoo, OCODA, Leapmotor and Xpeng. Byd sold 70,000 cars in the first part of the year, of which 15,000 in June.

Jaecoo and Omoda are part of the Chery group and went well on plow-in hybrids. Leapmotor had good figures due to the T03 and C10, and Xpeng had good sales for the G6.

Overall, the European car market decreased compared to the first semester of 2024, and Dacia Sandero was number 1 in sales, even though its figures decreased by 11%. Four other models have passed the threshold of 100,000 cars sold in half a year: Renault Clio, Peugeot 208, Volkswagen T-Rroc and Volkswagen Golf, according to JATO data.

The electric cars had very good figures, 25% growth and a total of 1.19 million units in six months. Volkswagen was 1st place in sales, followed by Tesla Motors and BMW. The market share reached 17% in the first part of the year, compared to 14% in the first half of 2024.
