New wagons from Pesa on routes. Speed 200 km/h


From the general pool of 24 wagons, which was modernized, eight have already been picked up and directed to the routes. PKP Intercity has announced that the value of the contract for modernization of the 154a series wagons is PLN 150 million. At the same time, a contract was signed to modernize another 35 wagons of this type. The total value of both contracts is PLN 378 million.
“Modernized wagons will serve travelers on various connections. They will go at speeds up to 200 km/hi will be equipped with air conditioning and WiFi system” – announced Minister Klimczak.
As the head of the infrastructure ministry pointed out, the new wagons have already reached the maximum permissible speed in the composition of Jantar Warsaw -Hel. – “Passengers who get on Friday on the” Poseidon “train from Warsaw to Kołobrzeg will also go at a speed of 200 km/h” – he added.

New rolling stock, new possibilities
The minister also informed that PKP Intercity placed an order for a total of 644 new and modernized wagons. “They will significantly increase the possibilities of creating new connections, and also allow you to transport more passengers to those existing ones” – Klimczak pointed out.
Last weekend – as the minister said – nearly a million passengers traveled by PKP Intercity trains. “This is a record and a number 15 percent higher compared to the same weekend of last year,” he emphasized.

Funds from KPO for Polish producers
According to the ministry's declarations, a significant part of the modern rolling stock, which will go to rail carriers, will be financed from KPO funds. The total value of projects implemented by Polish plants will amount to PLN 16.5 billion. From this pool, Sądecki Newag, 5.4 billion – Fabryka Vehicles by H. Cegielski from Poznań, 2.5 billion – Remtrak plants in Opoczno, and 1 billion – PESA in Minsk Mazowiecki will receive PLN 7.7 billion.
PKP Intercity, as the largest long -distance carrier in the country, serves connections between large cities and tourist resorts, and also offers international journeys around Europe. In 2023, the company transported 78.5 million passengers – by 15 percent more than a year earlier and 33 percent more than in 2022.
Currently, the carrier offers travel in four classes: economic TLK and IC and express EIC and EIP (Pendolino). The company's estimates indicate that in 2024 the number of passengers will reach 88 million, and in perspective until 2030 – even 110 million.
