Ionuț Stroe criticizes the proposal on the taxes for the diaspora. “We are surprised that more and more choose to vote with extremists”

PNL deputy Ionuț Stroe criticized the proposal regarding the duties taxes, warning that the measure would have deepened the break between the state and the Romanians outside the borders.

Ionuț Stroe criticized the idea of introducing taxes for Diaspora Arhva
“The recent announcement regarding the possibility of introducing new taxes for Romanian citizens in the Diaspora, mentioned by the Foreign Ministry, cannot be treated with superficiality. It is essential to have all the data and analyzes before making such a decision that risks deepening the rupture between the state and the millions of Romanians outside the borders.”wrote Ionuț Stroe in a post on his Facebook page.
He warned that, before discussing additional taxes, some concrete additional steps are required in the direction of debirocratization and modernization of the consular system:
– Simplification of programming procedures
– Extension and adaptation of the work schedule with the public
– additional digitization of procedures for obtaining documents
– Real collaboration between MAE, MAI and MJ for stream fluidization
– Using artificial intelligence for efficient and transparent communication flows with citizens (call-center, chatbox)
He also warned that “We cannot ignore the serious reality of the companies that intermediate the relationship between the citizen and the state, blocking the schedules in consulates and taking advantage of chaos.”
“The real problem are not the Romanians who require services, but the intermediaries who parasitize this system. Therefore, the true urgency is to block these abusive practices, not the additional taxation of those who make efforts to remain connected with Romania.
It's very easy to ask for new taxes. But it is a dangerous road that feeds the frustration and, finally, we are surprised that more and more Romanians from the diaspora choose to vote with extremists ”he concluded.
The statements come after the Foreign Minister Oana Țiuiu, was pronounced on Thursday in favor of taxing certain consular services, but supported the payment for those regarding the identity documents.
“But we have to look a little honestly at this. You cannot be a country that offers the most consular services in the world and at the same time to be the only country that does this for free. It simply creates a great tension on the existence of resources, so you can deliver these services to quality and you can deliver them quickly. Rent extraction.said Oana Ţoiu for RFI.
