In Krasnoyarsk, in the regional ophthalmology hospital, the child’s transplantation was performed for the first time, they told the Ministry of Health.

The girl diagnosed the perforation of the cornea in a severe stage. Therefore, the doctors decided to carry out through keratoplasty as soon as possible. The affected area of the cornea is donor.

“For ophthalmology of the region, this is a significant event that translates the children's ophthalmology of the region to a new level and allows you to increase the availability of medical care of such a high level to children suffering from corneal pathology. Earlier, for such operations, children were sent to federal institutions of Russia, ”said Valentina Brown, the chief freelance children's ophthalmologist of the Ministry of Health of the Krasnoyarsk Territory.

Deputy Chief physician for the medical part of the Krasnoyarsk Regional Ophthalmological Hospital named after Professor P.G. Makarova Anna Kadantseva, conducting this operation, noted that such operations were previously carried out outside the region. But the expectation of high -tech assistance in federal centers often lasts more and more, but the child did not have this time.

“The operation and the first days after it at Lydia passed without complications. The girl will stay in a hospital for about a week, and then she will be observed every week with the ophthalmologists of our hospital, ”said Anna Kadantseva.

Adults such operations in severe pathology of the cornea have been performed in the Krasnoyarsk Territory since 2022. Patients need long -term observation, so the possibility of such an operation in their native region is a huge advantage. In August, it is planned to conduct an operation for another child.

Such operations are expensive. In the region, 20 quotas were allocated for such operations to adults and children as part of a program for financing high -tech medical care.
