Saudi Prince Al-Waleed Bin Khaled Bin Talal Al Saud, the son of Prince Khaled Bin Talal Al Saud, a prominent member of the Saudi Royal Family, died on Saturday, at the age of 36, after staying in a coma for almost 20 years, Le Figaro reports.
The prince's death was announced by his family.
“With the confident hearts in the will and law of Allah and with deep pain and sadness, we mourn our beloved son: Prince Al-Waleed Bin Khaled Bin Talal Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud. Allah to have mercy on him,” he announced on Saturday, in an X, Prince of Waleed Bin Talal.
Al-Waleed, known as the “sleeping prince”, spent 20 years in a coma after a car accident in 2005, in London, when he was 15 years old. He was studying in the capital of Great Britain, at a military high school. Shortly after his repatriation at the Medical Center Abdulaziz in Riad, he entered a coma.
His father decided to keep him under respiratory assistance at the hospital and never gave up the hope that his son would be recovering one day.
He regularly distributed photos and videos on social networks, asking people to pray for his son. Several signs, such as head movement and finger movement, gave hope, but never regained its acquaintance.
