The civil protection in the Gaza Strip announced on Sunday that 57 Palestinians were killed and tens wounded by “Israeli shots” near a distribution point of humanitarian aid from the north of the Palestinian territory devastated by the war, AFP reports, taken over by Agerpres.
The spokesman for civil protection, Mahmud Basal, told AFP that 57 people were killed following “some occupation shots (Israel-no) in the direction of people waiting for help in the Zikim area, in the northwest Gaza City.”
Contacted by AFP, the Israeli army stated that it is informed about the facts notified.
“Thousands of people gathered, who were trying to get flour,” said Qasem Abu Khaater, who was in the distribution point area. “The tanks randomly fired on us and the snitters of the occupation opened the fire as if they were hunting wild animals in the forest,” he said.
The 36 -year -old man is originally from Jabalia in the north of the Gaza Strip, and had to leave the region with his family. He now lives in western Gaza City. He said he saw “dozens of people” dying in front of him.
“You ask the question: do I have to go back with a wound to save him or a bag of flour to save my family and children? Lord, what are we reduced to,” Palestinian said.
Hamas also denounced a “massacre”.
The about two million Palestinians besieged by Israel in Gaza are on the verge of hunger after over 21 months of conflict, triggered by an unprecedented attack of the Palestinian Israel Israel on October 7, 2023.
The emergency food aid is provided in the Gaza strip by the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation, an entity supported by the US who destroyed food under the supervision of the Israeli army.
