The Katowice prosecutor's office accused two TVN Turbo journalists of the rape of two women. The crime was to take place last fall in one of the apartments in Katowice. The accused categorically deny the allegations. The station suspended cooperation with them.
Information on referring an indictment to the court, which took place on June 30, was confirmed on Friday by PAP, the head of the Katowice North District Prosecutor's Office Joanna Sagan. The case will be considered by the District Court in Katowice.
“The evidence gathered in the case, both in the form of documentary evidence, including, among others, opinions in the field of toxicological and genetic tests, as well as personal sources of evidence at the basis of a referral against the accused of the indictment. The suspects did not admit the alleged act” – Prosecutor Sagan informed in response to PAP's questions. She added that they are both under police supervision.
Gazeta Wyborcza was the first to write about the case, who announced that journalists, using the alcohol into the alcohol of two women aged 26 and 34, led them to sexual intercourse, as well as to the admission of another sexual activity.
According to the investigation, the accusation of events described in the indictment took place in October last year. Two journalists came to Silesia then to implement the next episode of their program. In the evening, four women met in one of the premises, who – as “GW” described – are homosexual orientation. Just before closing the premises, two of them got into the taxi with journalists and headed towards the apartment they rented. This is where rape was to occur. One of the women managed to call her friends with whom they had previously met in a restaurant. When those in the phone's handset heard disturbing sounds, they went to the place. There, one of them was to record their underestimated friends and journalists with a mobile phone, who after a while dressed and left the apartment.
A notification of a suspicion of committing a crime was made by one of the friends who entered the apartment, the victims themselves did not want any investigation – described “GW”, adding that journalists did not plead guilty and claimed that they had sex with women with their consent.
Jakub Wende, representing one of the accused, asked by PAP for a defense position, said that the article “GW” was underway. He asked to send questions by e -mail. MEC. Wende emphasized that both customers are asking to use their full personal data and images.
On Friday afternoon, both journalists posted statements in social media. Adam Kornacki He confirmed that he and his colleague sat down to the table at the invitation of “several already inserted women”, then they took advantage of the invitation to the apartment. “And so – we will both be ashamed of this situation and regret for the rest of our lives. But no, no and not again – there is absolutely no rape – or any sexual intercourse (which the experts confirmed)” – he wrote. “I think that rape is one of the most disgusting crimes and in life I would not commit something like that. Regardless of the situation. Well, not simply” – he emphasized.
He pointed out that the women who invited journalists did not accuse them of such accusations. He expressed the belief that the accusation is the idea of their friend, who had to record them from hiding before. He also added that there are plenty of bystanders who confirm that “at every moment of the evening everything we did, took place with consent, and often even on the initiative of these women.”
“I am terribly ashamed and at the same time I am terribly sorry that the behavior, which is already morally bad in itself, is now additionally inflated, colored and simply manipulated,” wrote Kornacki and asked for abstinence in commenting on information that he thinks they do not support facts. “Let the court judge it and I believe it will be fine. It will last, but it will be fine,” he concluded.
Also the second of the accused journalists Patryk Mikiciuk In his post he stated that information about alleged rape is not true. He assured that he was not blamed for the editor, which described what she found in the files, but at the same time added that some of this information “was incorrectly interpreted or very important elements of evidence were omitted.”
“The whole thing arose on the initiative of one person who first recorded us from hiding, and finally she wanted PLN 10,000 for silence from us. And it is this person who suspects that his friends could have been hurt. Importantly: they are important: they do not say so” – added Mikiciuk. “The evidence clearly shows that there was no intercourse, no crime and no one has been hurt. From the beginning we have been fully cooperating with law enforcement agencies. I want this matter to be explained as soon as possible. I believe in justice and that the truth will defend itself,” he added. He asked not to judge him through the prism of headers.
After press reports, TVN Turbo suspended cooperation with journalists. “We always put special emphasis on compliance with the applicable regulations by all our employees and colleagues. Immediately after receiving information about the case yesterday – from journalists + Gazeta Wyborcza + – we decided to suspend cooperation with two leaders until all circumstances are clarified,” the station wrote on Friday.
