Donald Trump was declared “very dissatisfied” of the telephone conversation he had with Vladimir Putin, who made no progress in the direction of the Ukrainian war, the US president revealed that he told him that there was the possibility of applying new sanctions against Russia.
“It is a very difficult situation. I told you that I am very unhappy with my conversation with President Putin. He wants to go to the end, to continue killing people, which is not good,” Trump told journalists on board Air Force One, according to AFP.
The US president also suggested that he may be willing to tighten the sanctions against Russia, after avoiding resorting to them in the last six months, trying to convince his Russian counterpart to end the war.
Trump said that in his conversations with Vladimir Putin “we talk a lot about sanctions”. “He knows what could come,” he added.
Trump added that he had also had a “very strategic conversation” with Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelenski on Friday, in the context of Kiev increases concerning on American military aid deliveries.
Zelenski said he addressed the issue of Ukraine's anti -aircraft defense in the telephone discussion carried out on Friday with the US President and agreed with him to work to increase Kiev's ability to “strengthen the protection” of the Ukrainian airspace, as Russian attacks intensify.
Trump said he also discussed the sending of Patriot air defense systems in Ukraine in a separate conversation with German Chancellor Friedrich, even though he has not yet decided to provide this essential equipment. Merz “thinks they should be protected,” Trump said, referring to Ukraine.
After a little-trumpy conversation, Merz does not want to talk to the Kremlin. “There is a pattern with the Russian president”
Ukraine has requested several anti -aircraft systems and rockets
Ukraine has asked Washington to sell more rockets and patriotic systems that it considers essential for the defense of its cities to intensify Russian air attacks.
A decision made by Washington to stop some weapons transport to Ukraine caused Kiev to warn that this move would diminish his ability to defend against air attacks and Russia's advance on the battlefield.
Germany said he is in discussions for the purchase of Patriot systems to fill the goal.
Zelenski's conversation with Trump comes one day after the White House leader said he had a disappointing conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Russia bombed Kiev in the biggest attack with drones and rockets on the Ukrainian capital from the beginning of the war, just a few hours after Trump's Thursday's conversation. Zelenski qualified Moscow's attack as “deliberately massive and cynical.”
