US President Donald Trump has announced that the United States will start discussions with China on Monday or Tuesday, to reach an agreement on the Tiktok application, owned by the Chinese company Bytedance, News.ro citing Reuters.
“I think we will start on Monday or Tuesday … Discussions with China, maybe with President XI or one of his representatives, but we already have an agreement,” Trump told journalists on board Air Force One.
Last month, Trump extended until September 17, the deadline imposed byTedance to sell Tiktok assets in the US.
An agreement had been prepared in the spring, aiming at separating the US Tiktok operations in a new company, with the majority headquarters and shareholding in the United States. However, the plan was suspended after Beijing suggested that it will not approve the sale, in the context of the new customs rates announced by Trump against Chinese goods.

Trump said that it is “probably” as a possible agreement to require China's approval. Asked how confident it is that Beijing will accept such an agreement, he replied: “I am not necessarily confident, but I think.
The Tiktok agreement is closely pursued against the background of increasing commercial tensions between the US and China, but also of concerns about the security of US users data.
