Red code for heat in three counties of the country, issued by ANM. Temperatures can reach up to 41 degrees Celsius

The meteorologists from ANM have issued a red code of heat for Mehedinti, Dolj and Olt counties, where the temperatures will reach 39-41 degrees Celsius, and the thermal discomfort will be extreme. The warning will enter into force on Sunday morning, July 6.

According to ANM, the temperature-humidity index (ITU) will exceed the critical threshold of 80 units, and the UV index will be dangerous, with values of 9-10 units between 11:00 and 17:00. The night will not bring cool: the thermal minimums will be 21 … 24 degrees Celsius, characterizing tropical nights.
The red code will be valid for 14 hours in Mehedinți, Dolj and Olt counties, according to the map.

Orange and yellow code in the rest of the country Sunday
In addition to the red code, the specialists have also issued an orange code for the heat and accentuated thermal discomfort, which will affect the Banat, Muntenia, northern Oltenia, southwest of Transylvania, southern Dobrogea. Here, the maximum temperatures will be between 37 and 39 degrees, and the minimums will not fall below 20 degrees.
A yellow code of heat will be in force for Crișana, Maramureș, most of Moldova and Transylvania, northern Dobrogea. In these regions, the heat wave will expand and intensify, and the temperatures will climb up to 33 … 37 degrees Celsius, with a minimum of 18 … 20 degrees. And here, ITU will easily exceed the critical threshold of 80.

Saturday, July 5, still brings suffocating temperatures in many areas of the country, even if the wave of heat begins to lose intensity, according to the forecast prepared by ANM. In the south, southwest and in the center of Romania, after lunch, the air becomes difficult to bear again, with accentuated thermal discomfort and temperature values that climb dangerous, being issued an orange code warning.
The heat wave continues and months
On Monday, the heat wave will be maintained in almost the whole country, and in the south it will continue to intensify. Authorities recommend avoiding sun exposure in the peak range of UV radiation, proper hydration and limiting outdoor activities.
