On Thursday, the administration of Donald Trump announced a new set of sanctions aimed at entities exporting Iranian oil and hiding its origin. As the Department of State emphasized, this is an element of policy of imposing “maximum pressure” on the Iranian regime.

Sanctions imposed by the State Department and the Ministry of Finance include six entities and four tankers from the so -called shadow fleets involved in the export of Iranian oil. They belong to the British-Iraq businessman Salim Ahmed Said, who, using a network of companies and bribes for Iraqi authorities, was to hide the origin of exported oil as Iraqi oil. The raw material went to merchants from Western countries.
“As President Trump made it clear, Iran's behavior led to his decimal. While he had all the possibilities of choosing peace, his leaders chose extremism,” said finance minister Scott Bessent in a statement. At the same time, he announced further intensification of economic pressure to “disturb the regime's access to the financial resources that drive its destabilizing activities.”
Sanctions are imposed a day after Iran has suspended cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency regarding the monitoring of his nuclear program. Earlier, after announcing the truce in the Iranian war with Israel, President Donald Trump said that China – the main importer of Iranian oil – will be able to buy this raw material freely, seeing to suggest a photo of sanctions from entities involved in the oil trade from Iran. The sanction of sanctions was also to be considered as part of negotiations with Iran in exchange for the abandonment of the regime from the enrichment of uranium. According to Axios, the first talks on this topic are to take place next week in Oslo.
