The Minister of Labor, Florin Manole, said on Thursday that he still supports the aid of 400 lei for pensioners before the holidays, but stressed that the final decision belongs to Ilie Bolojan and Coalition.

According to News.ro, the Minister of Labor was asked if the pensioners will receive the 400 lei, before the holidays, the second installment from the help established by the former government.

“I will always be the supporter of this mechanism, additionally, beyond indexing with inflation, but we are in a multicolored government that will make joint decisions, it will be a decision of the Bolojan Government. I can only assume my personal dedication for this topic, the results are also related to the budgetary limits and the common decision of the Bolojan Government.”

He stated that, in his opinion, any means must be found to protect the power to buy the population.

“We will take the political decision in a government that contains much more parties than the Social Democratic Party,” he stressed.

The Ciolacu government decided in March to grant this year an aid of 800 lei, in two equal installments, in April and December respectively, for all pensioners with income less than or equal to 2,574 lei. In Romania, about 2.6 million pensioners have income less than or equal to 2,574 lei.

On Thursday, the Ministers of Finance, Health, Labor and Education went publicly at a press conference at the Victoriei Palace, one day after the fiscal package announced by Ilie Bolojan. Ilie Bolojan announced on Wednesday that the reduction of the excessive budget deficit will be done through three packages of measures that will be adopted successively in the coming months.

Among the measures stipulated are the reassembly of VAT to two quotas, 11% and 21%, the ceiling of pensions and salaries in the public sector and in 2026, but also the payment of the contribution to the health by the pensioners whose pension exceeds the threshold of 3,000 lei.
