Capture of over 8 million lei. What did the police discovered in a container that had to contain toothpicks

Border police discovered on Thursday, July 3, products worth over 8 million lei in a container from the Netherlands in Constanta port, in which they should have been toothpicks.

In fact, the border guards within the Coast Guard, in cooperation with inspectors from the Constanta Sud – Agigea Customs Office, discovered 545,000 packages with undeclared cigarettes, which were confiscated. They were in a container which, according to the documents presented, had to contain toothpicks.
The container with smuggling cigarettes had as its destination a commercial company in the Republic of Moldova.
“S.-the physical control over a container arrived in the Netherlands, which had as its destination a company from the Republic of Moldova. According to the data declared and included in the documents presented to the customs authority, the container contained toothpicks. On the occasion of the checks carried out it was established that the documents presented do not correspond to the reality, in fact being discovered the total quantity of 545,000 packs of cigarettes, without excisable stamp, in a total value of approximately 8,175,000 lei“, reports the Romanian Border Police, in a statement.
Border police are investigating in this case, under the coordination of a prosecutor from the Prosecutor's Office attached to the Constanta Tribunal, for the use of non -real acts and smuggling.
