The risk of fires will increase in Greece, in the following days, according to the Greek National Meteorology Service. The flames could affect the forested surfaces of the territory of this country, the risk being accentuated by the high temperatures, the lack of rainfall, the reduced humidity and the intensity of the wind, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reports.

Greek firefighters are fighting vegetation fires in several favorite areas including Romanian tourists, such as Crete, Halkidiki and Kythera.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs recommends Romanian citizens interested in consulting the website of the Greek Ministry of Civil Protection and Climate crises, which contains current information on vegetation fires, daily fire forecast maps, available at https://civilprotection.gov.g/xartis, as well as a self -protection guide.

In view of the risks arising from the appearance of fires, the Greek authorities draw attention to the fact that, in the next period, traffic on public roads can be restricted, recommending drivers to check the status of roads on the official website of the Greek police: www.astynomia.gr.

If the Romanian citizens in the Greek Republic receive telephone alerts from the 112 Service, they are advised to follow the instructions received to avoid the affected areas or for the evacuations organized by the authorities.

Romanian citizens can request consular assistance at the phone numbers of the Romanian Embassy in Athens: +30 210 6728875; +30 210 6728879 and to the Consulate General of Romania from Thessaloniki: +30 2310 340088, the appeals being redirected to the Center for Contact and Support of Romanian Citizens from abroad (CCSCRS) and taken by permanent operators.

Also, the Romanian citizens who face a difficult, special situation, with an emergency character, have the emergency phone of the Romanian Embassy in Athens: +306978996222 and to the general consulate in Thessaloniki: +306946049076.
