How to feed gooseberries in the midst of summer: berries will be the size of a grape

In the midst of summer, gooseberries need special nutrition. The taste and juiciness of the future crop directly depend on the fact that you will give the bushes now. July is a period when the correct top dressing really decides everything.

Monophosphate potassium: reliable assistant

This fertilizer is considered a real find for berry bushes. It is enough to dilute 10-15 grams of powder in a bucket of water and pour one adult bush. But first, be sure to pour the plant abundantly with ordinary water. So the roots will better perceive nutrition. In early July, one top dressing will be enough for gooseberries to receive a portion of potassium and phosphorus, two key elements for juicy berries.

Potassium sulfate: instead of harmful chlorine

If you prefer fertilizers without chlorine (which only harms the gooseberries), pay attention to potassium sulfate. It is also enriched with gray, and this is a plus for the health of the bush. 15–20 grams of the product are taken onto a bucket of water, watering under the root, and only after the bush is already well moistened.

Wood ash: natural choice

If you want to do without purchased fertilizers, you can use ash infusion. Take a liter jar of ash and pour 10 liters of hot water. Let it brew for 2-3 days, not forgetting to stir. Then strain, dilute in half and pour under the bush.

There is another way. Just scatter 1-2 cups of dry ash under a wet ground under a bush, then slightly loosen and pour. This will work no worse, especially if the ash is fresh and stored in a dry place.

Potassium humates: effect amplifier

A few days after the main potassium top dressing, you can pour the bush with a solution of potassium humate. This will improve the absorption of all nutrients, strengthen the root system and make the bush more resistant to heat. Usually, 5-10 ml of liquid humate is enough for 10 liters of water. See the exact dosage at the package.

Such a simple and understandable top dressing program helps gooseberries to develop correctly and spend strength not on survival, but on the crop. And the result will be large, sweet, truly summer berries that you can be proud of.
